7 Tips For Beginner Yogis

What is a Yogi? To put it simply, a yogi is someone who is committed to the practice of yoga. If you are ready to commit yourself to the practice of yoga, we have seven must-follow tips

1. The Right Instructor

Finding the right yogi mentor is key. This person should guide you through your yoga journey. Working with the right instructor will help you better understand the practice of yoga, teach you the correct positions, and inspire you to continue learning and growing. This person should be more than a teacher, they should be your guide and inspiration.

2. Practice with Patience

Being a yogi is more than simply practicing yoga. It is a lifestyle that requires patience and calmness. There is no rush or finish line. Take your time, go slow, and remember that there is always something new to learn.

Here are a few tips to help you maintain patience as you practice.

🧘‍♀️  Leverage your breath. Take deep, long, breaths and calm your mind.

🧘‍♀️  Find calming mantras

🧘‍♀️  Meditate often

🧘‍♀  Look to your yogi mentor for guidance

3. Don’t Give Up

Being a yogi means you are embarking on a lifelong practice of yoga. As with any other journey, you will encounter both ups and downs. The road may be difficult at times, do not give up. Lean on your yogi mentor, be patient with yourself, and never give up.

4. Don’t Compete

Everyone’s yoga journey is their own. Your experience will be unique so avoid comparing yourself to others. If this is hard for you, consider practicing yoga alone or with your mentor/instructor. Remember, any focus that is pulled away from yourself and your practice only distracts you. The practice of yoga is not a competition. It is a lifelong journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
