Have You Ever Tried a CBD Spa Treatment

You know that CBD is used to relieve pain, ease stress, and has anti-inflammatory properties. As CBD is approved for use across the United States, it only makes sense that CBD spa treatments are a popular trend. To learn more, we went to the source—American spa associations. Here’s what a spa director in Corona, California had to say about CBD in the spa industry.

Patty Rook, spa director, Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona, California: The spa industry has used natural remedies to relieve pain and ease stress (think arnica and aromatherapy) for many years. CBD is a plant-based topical that has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-anxiety benefits, all of which we've been addressing for a long time in our business. Clients are especially discovering that CBD can be a quick way to deal with chronic pain.

“CBD is a quick way to deal with chronic pain”…We agree. How is CBD used in a spa setting? We looked to American Spa for the answers.

A CBD Day at the Spa

Imagine a relaxing day at the spa. The day may include a deep tissue massage, a healing facial, and maybe even a spa lunch. We found spas incorporating CBD into every menu of services. Here's an example from Nashville, TN, and a nationally branded hotel spa:

Rhapsody Spa at The Westin Nashville recently debuted the Vital Body CBD Wellness Massage (starting at $205, 80 minutes), which pairs an artisan-crafted aromatic massage cream with eight pain-relieving herbs and pairs it with a single heated Himalayan Salt Stone to the back.—AmericanSpa.com

If you are inspired by the Rhapsody Spa's CBD Wellness Massage, you may want to make your own at-home spa treatments.

At-Home Spa CBD Solutions

When creating your at-home spa treatments, always follow these two tips:
  1. When using at-home spa treatments, do not ever exceed your daily dose of CBD.
  2. To preserve the CBD, store your crafted spa products in brown bottles or dark glass—found at any craft store or online.

Start with these two easy-to-make recipes to incorporate CBD into home remedy collection...

CBD-Infused Massage Oil

Cannabinoids bind with fats; so, CBD works best when blended with other oil-based ingredients. For massage oil, we recommend coconut oil.  You will need to melt the coconut oil for blending, but note that you will want the oil to cool before adding CBD (cool, but not yet returning to a solid). You will also use essential oils in this recipe. Pick a fragrance such as lavender, rose, or sandalwood for their soothing and anxiety-reducing properties.
  • 3 oz Coconut Oil
  • 20-30 drops of selected essential oils
  • CBD Oil, Not to exceed your daily dose

Remember to store your new massage oil in a dark glass bottle. You don't want the light to break down your oil.

Honey Oat Purity CBD Mask

This is an easy-to-create mask that provides the healing properties of oats, honey, and CBD. This is a single-use recipe, and we do not recommend storing it.
  • 2 TBS of Oats, ground in a food processor
  • 1 tsp of Raw Honey
  • 1 Full Dropper of 500 mg Purity CBD tincture
  • Water as needed

Combine all ingredients and use water until the paste is spreadable. Apply to face and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Use cool water to rinse. (adapted from CBD Essentials Magazine)
